During a ceremony on May 28, 2019, Maxion Wheels’ light vehicle steel wheel plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico became Hyundai Motor Group’s first supplier in Mexico to achieve the vehicle manufacturer’s prestigious Quality 5 Star award.

Meeting Hyundai’s rigorous quality and delivery performance standards is no small feat, as only a small number of suppliers have done so. The award also symbolizes Hyundai Kia’s commitment to collaborate with its partners seeking mutually beneficial long-term relationships with its key suppliers.

The team in San Luis Potosi (SLP) gathered in the plant for the celebration hosting the following Hyundai Kia executives:

  • Chul in Kim, Part Development Head of Department
  • Jea Hyun Jung, Part Development Head of Section
  • Gerson Medina, Part Development SQD Manager
  • Fernando Torres, Part Development Body Manager

"It is a great honor for our plant in San Luis Potosí to receive the Quality 5 Star award," said Don Polk, President of Maxion Wheels, Americas. "It's a great achievement that reflects the work of the entire Maxion Wheels team and their commitment to a strategic customer like Kia."

Maxion Wheels SLP has been a supplier to Hyundai Kia in Mexico since 2014, currently producing wheels for the Kia Forte and Kia Rio vehicles built in Hyundai Kia’s plant in Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
