Around the World, One Electric Mile at a Time

Maxion Wheels is proud to celebrate the successful completion of the Challenge4 team’s Guinness World Record journey for the most countries visited in a continuous journey by a battery-powered electric vehicle. Over 445 days, the fully electric VW ID. Buzz, equipped with Maxion’s 18-inch steel wheels, traveled 99,767 kilometers across 92 countries and six continents, demonstrating the growing accessibility of electric mobility around the world.

From major cities and highways to remote roads and challenging terrain, Maxion’s steel wheels delivered the durability, reliability, and sustainability needed for one of the most demanding EV journeys ever undertaken. The successful record attempt reinforces our commitment to supporting the future of mobility with innovative wheel solutions designed for the evolving needs of vehicle manufacturers and drivers alike.

Kickoff in Hanover

All packed up and ready to go. On July 1, 2025, the team of Challenge4 started their journey in the VW ID. Buzz leaving Hanover, Germany, heading to Berlin and then north towards Scandinavia.

After an exciting first day, the VW ID. Buzz reaches Germany's capital - Berlin. Time to rest before crossing the first border tomorrow!

First Continent Completed

The team reaches their first big milestone: After only 19 days, 37 countries visited and more than 17,000km driven, the European part of the tour is complete.

Second Continent Completed

106 days later: The team explored 12 more countries, adding 22,000 km. In total, Maxion wheels carried the VW ID. Buzz for 125 days across 49 countries and 38,833 km. Asia complete — next stop: Australia!

Third Continent Completed

3,000 km across Australia: In only one week, the team drove from Melbourne to Perth. Country count hits 50! Next stop: Africa.

After 240 days on the road, the VW ID. Buzz arrived at our Johannesburg plant, where the team welcomed it with great enthusiasm and interest in its remarkable journey.

Fourth Continent Completed

Over 24 days, the team crossed the African continent, pushing the journey to new milestones. With Africa finished, the tally now stands at 61 countries and more than 60,000 km on the road. Next stop: North America

ID Buzz Visits Our Sedalia Plant

The VW ID. Buzz team has made its way to the United Stated and stopped at our plant in Sedalia, Missouri, where a large group of employees gathered to welcome the journey, celebrating teamwork and the shared commitment to sustainable mobility.

Next Stop: San Luis Potosí

The VW ID. Buzz team continued its journey through North America with a stop at our plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Employees warmly welcomed the team, celebrating the shared commitment to innovation, collaboration, and the advancement of sustainable mobility as the journey reached its 63rd country milestone.

From New York to Panama

Fifth Continent Complete

The team has completed the North America leg of their Guinness World Record journey in the fully electric VW ID. Buzz. With more than 67,000 kilometers driven and 70 countries visited, the journey now continues to its sixth and final continent: South America.

A Stop at our Santo André Plant

As the VW ID. Buzz team neared the end of their journey through South America, employees at our Santo André, Brazil, plant gave them a warm welcome and were excited to learn more about the experience the team gained along the way.

From Colombia to Brazil

Sixth Continent Complete

The team has wrapped up its South American adventure, covering nearly 15,000 kilometers across eight countries in the fully electric VW ID. Buzz. From diverse landscapes to changing road conditions, the journey added another memorable chapter to the journey. With all six continents now behind them, the team is heading into the final stretch of their remarkable global tour.

The Home Stretch

With all six continents completed, the team continued through the Middle East, adding more countries and kilometers to their Guinness World Record journey. The final regional leg brought the team one step closer to Hanover, where the world record would soon become official.

Mission Accomplished

The Challenge4 team returned to Hanover, Germany, after 445 days, 99,767 kilometers, and 92 countries, officially securing a Guinness World Record for the most countries visited in a continuous journey by a battery-powered electric vehicle. The remarkable journey was completed in a production VW ID. Buzz equipped with Maxion steel wheels.
