The former joint venture of Hayes Lemmerz and the Kalyani Group was founded in 1996 in Pune, India. Today the JV operates under the name Kalyani Maxion Wheels and has the capacity to produce 1.3 million commercial vehicle steel wheels, serving global OEMs such as Ashok Leyland, Daimler, TATA Motors, and Volvo.
In 2009, Maxion expanded its operations in Pune and began production of light vehicle steel wheels. The team is responsible for manufacturing up to four million wheels per year for global vehicle manufacturers such as Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai-Kia, Nissan and VW.
