Iochpe-Maxion’s Net-Zero Targets Validated by SBTi

Sao Paulo, Brazil, –

Iochpe-Maxion’s net-zero targets have been officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), confirming alignment with the climate action pathway of limiting global warming to 1.5°C and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 or sooner.

The SBTi classified Iochpe-Maxion’s near-term Scope 1, 2 and 3 target ambitions as consistent with a 1.5°C trajectory. Additionally, the Company’s long-term Scope 1, 2, and 3 targets have been recognized as aligned with the SBTi’s 1.5°C mitigation pathways for reaching net-zero by 2050 or sooner.

Iochpe-Maxion’s climate commitments include:

By 2030

  • Reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 63.2% from a 2019 base year.
  • Reducing absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services by 25% from the 2024 base year.

By 2040

  • Reaching net-zero GHG emissions across the value chain, reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90% from a 2019 base year and absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% from a 2024 base year.

The SBTi validation is a significant milestone, as its approval is globally recognized as the gold standard for corporate climate targets, ensuring they are science-based, credible, and aligned with the Paris Agreement.
