Maxion Advances Product Environmental Transparency with First Global LCA

Maxion has published the Company’s first global Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) that provides a harmonized evaluation of environmental impacts across key product segments and 24 manufacturing facilities worldwide.

For wheel manufacturers and customers alike, lifecycle transparency is becoming increasingly important. LCAs help identify where environmental impacts occur throughout the value chain while providing standardized environmental data that supports informed decision-making and customer sustainability requirements.

The new study represents an important milestone by moving from individual assessments to a unified global methodology covering both aluminum and steel wheels produced across Maxion's global manufacturing footprint.

Conducted in accordance with relevant ISO standards for Life Cycle Assessment and applying the Environmental Footprint (EF) 3.1 methodology, the assessment evaluates 16 environmental impact categories using 2024 production data. A high share of primary data for key manufacturing processes further strengthens the quality and robustness of the results.

The findings highlight the significant role of raw materials, particularly aluminum and steel, in overall product carbon footprint, underscoring the importance of material selection and supplier engagement in future reduction efforts.

By establishing a consistent global baseline, the report supports greater transparency, stronger customer dialogue, improved comparability, and the identification of future reduction opportunities across Maxion's wheel portfolio.
