Maxion Wheels Names Top 2020 Performing Plants for Safety and Sustainability
Königswinter, GERMANY – March 22, 2021 – In 2020, as the automotive industry and many of our plants came to a standstill with COVID-19 spreading around the world, Maxion Wheels was still able to produce millions of wheels. This is not a simple task, as making wheels is hard work. Our products are heavy, our cycle times are fast, our machinery heavy-duty, and our quality standards high as we set out to produce the world’s best wheels.
As we do every year, we acknowledge this hard work with a review of each plant’s health, safety and environment metrics. Our plants track and report – real time – on 14 different elements, providing management with the opportunity to celebrate and share best practices, as well as focus on areas of improvement. From this reporting we annually rank and honor the top three scoring plants with the Global Safety & Sustainability Award. Last year this environment was further complicated as the pandemic threatened both the health and safety of our people and business. It is with great pleasure that we announce the winners for 2020. They are:
- Gold – Light Vehicle Steel Wheels Manisa, Turkey Plant
- Silver – Light Vehicle Aluminum Wheels Chihuahua, Mexico Plant
- Bronze – Light Vehicle Steel Wheels Pune, India Plant
“With COVID-19, 2020 was a very dynamic and challenging year for our plants. They battled both seen and unseen threats, all the while, remaining committed to meeting our customers’ expectations and living our core values of safety and sustainability,” said Oliver Schwank, Global Safety, Sustainability and Risk Management Director. “We know COVID greatly challenged our teams, but when we studied the data, we found in most cases, our operations maintained very high scores without ever sacrificing safety or sustainability. We are proud of our teams, and applaud their outstanding performance.”
