Maxion Expands CV Product Portfolio to Include Forged Aluminum Wheels

In today’s rapidly evolving world, change and challenge are constants. The transportation industry is no exception, with shifting needs and evolving solutions creating unprecedented uncertainty in the marketplace. To stay ahead, Maxion must continue to act nimbly and strategically.

Introducing Forged Aluminum Wheels

Aware of the shifting priorities in the commercial vehicle industry, Maxion Wheels is expanding its CV product portfolio to include lightweight, corrosion-resistant forged aluminum wheels. This expansion is made possible through a joint venture with our longtime business partner, Inci Holding.

“Our new forged aluminum wheels not only complete our market-leading truck wheel portfolio but also solidify our position as a strong and trusted partner for our commercial vehicle customers,” said Pieter Klinkers, Chief Executive Officer of Maxion Wheels. “With our profound expertise in wheel design, engineering, and manufacturing, we are positioned well to deliver a comprehensive and innovative product range that meets the diverse needs of truck, trailer, bus, and tanker OEMs, as well as aftermarket customers."

For over 50 years, Maxion Wheels and Inci Holding have delivered the industry’s highest quality car and truck wheels. By adding forged aluminum wheels Maxion will provide customers with a compelling alternative in a market previously limited in choice.

Construction of the new, state-of-the-art, 20,000-square-meter plant in Manisa, Türkiye is nearing completion, with the installation of the manufacturing equipment progressing as planned.

With an initial production capacity of approx. 350,000 forged aluminum wheels annually, and the ability to scale to twice that amount in the years after, serial production is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025.

"Serving the truck wheel market is our passion, and we have been doing so for more than 50 years. For Inci Holding to join forces, again, with Maxion Wheels is both an honor and a testament to the power of our collaboration."

Mustafa Zaim, President of the Board of Maxion Inci and Maxion Jantas

Mustafa Zaim, President of the Board of Maxion Inci and Maxion Jantas, added, “We are thrilled to see our joint venture with Maxion Wheels prosper even more with the introduction of these forged aluminum wheels. The new plant is a testament to our shared vision and dedication to excellence, underscoring our commitment to delivering superior quality and performance to our customers. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with Maxion Wheels to drive the future of the commercial vehicle industry.”

The When and Why of Aluminum

Aluminum wheels weigh less than steel due to the material’s low density. Fitting them can increase the vehicle’s payload and improve driving efficiency, thus reducing a fleet’s operating costs while increasing profitability. Additionally, forged aluminum wheels are one-piece fully turned aluminum, creating a more concentric and true-running wheel. This results in less vibration and wear and tear on the tires and suspension.

Aluminum is also three times more conductive than steel, which helps dissipate heat better. This leads to less tire wear and increased brake life. Furthermore, the efficiency and payload benefits of aluminum wheels reduce use-phase emissions, aligning with commercial vehicle regulations.

Commercial vehicles operating at maximum payload clearly benefit from CVA. We also anticipate that CVA will gain momentum from electric vehicle (EV) trends. Truck manufacturers are open to new players and products, appreciating the benefits beyond Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
