Maxion Wheels Champions South Africa’s Sustainable Mobility Transformation
Maxion Wheels South Africa welcomed the Guinness World Record (GWR) Challenge4 team, who are currently attempting to set their ninth world record by driving a fully electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz, equipped with Maxion wheels, across six continents and through more than 75 countries.
The visit to the light vehicle aluminum wheels plant offered employees a unique opportunity to meet the team and see how Maxion’s robust wheel technology supports one of the most demanding electric vehicle (EV) journeys ever undertaken. It also served as a platform to highlight Maxion’s leadership role in the global shift toward electric mobility and the Company’s growing contributions to South Africa’s sustainable mobility transformation.
As the world adoption of EVs gains speed, Maxion Wheels is devoted to helping customers by offering future-ready steel and aluminum wheel solutions for enhanced functionality, safety, and efficiency. This dedication extends to the Company's Johannesburg facility, where recent solar energy investments showcase their commitment to sustainable manufacturing. Challenge4’s Guinness World Record attempt journey is planned to record over 80,000 kilometers traversing across Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, and South and North America. The team started in July 2025 and is planning to complete the journey in the second half of 2026.
